Shot by an all female crew that I directed remotely over Zoom in the summer of 2020, this musical phantasmagoria continues in the surrealist tradition of Queer Cinema pioneers Jean Cocteau and Derek Jarman. Inspired by the songs of “genre fluid” indie rocker Storm Large and Charlotte Perkins Gilman’s classic feminist short story “The Yellow Wallpaper,” I chose domestic abuse as a subject in honor of all women who suffer in violence, including my own mother.
